James Middleton and Alizee Thevenet's wedding was perfect, according to François Arizzi, who officiated the wedding at Bormes-les-Mimosas' town hall.
"Prince William and Kate [Middleton] were there, but they did not want to steal the show from the newlyweds, Alizee Thevenet and James Middleton, who is a very nice boy," he told Var Matin on Monday, September 13.
"Prince William did not have any formal attire but wore a beige and off-white suit," while Kate wore "a long dress of a very light green color," Arizzi noted.
"I was able to interact with [William and Kate] in very poor English," the mayor quipped of the 50 person event. "We talked about the charms of Bormes-les-Mimosas and its climate, banalities ... It was a simple moment, and I wasn't more impressive than that!"
Arizzi revealed that William and Kate's three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis — were also in attendance.
James and Alizee decided to get married in the area because her family recently acquired a property in the village. The wedding party took place in another location, though.
"Everything was organized with the utmost discretion," Arizzi shared. "They arrived by plane in Hyères [Toulon] before joining Bormes. I was in on the secret, but I could not say anything. They had a security detail and we also reinforced security on our side!"
"The bride and groom were very happy," he continued. "They were able to pose and take photos on the forecourt of the town hall, and the two dogs, who are at the origin of their meeting, were there. They then went to a private domain to celebrate."
On September 12, James revealed the exciting news via social media.
"Mr & Mrs Middleton ❤️ 🇬🇧 🇫🇷Yesterday I married the love of my life surrounded by family, friends and of course a few dogs in the beautiful village or Bormes-les-Mimosas. Words cannot describe how happy I am ❤️," James captioned a selfie of himself with his new wife on Instagram.
Of course, people sent well-wishes to the newlyweds. One person wrote, "Congratulations James! This makes me so happy xxx," while another added, "congratulations J and A! Worth the wait! ❤️👏."
