Sussex Brand Shake-Up: Ex-Pizza and Candy Company Spokesman Gets Hired to Run Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s New U.K. PR Campaign
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will now take PR advice from an ex-spokesman for Domino's Pizza and Mars candy. Charlie Gipson will now serve as the Sussex duo's promotional and public relations architect for the rollout of Meghan's American Riviera Orchard in Britain and Europe.
Gipson's team will now work side-by-side with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's U.S. PR unit. As revealed by GBN, the promotional mastermind has "excelled in media relations and strategic communication planning" for clients including Samsung, Cadbury and Instagram.
The new addition comes amid months of "inner turmoil" within the ex-working royals' press team. The pair decided to fire all British staff once they launched "Megxit" in early 2020, in favor of a California-based team. "The shift from royalty to Hollywood was a shock for everyone, including their steady team of press advisors," a royal insider spilled.
The launch of the Duchess of Sussex's new brand has not gone over well in the United Kingdom, especially in light of King Charles III and Catherine, Princess of Wales' cancer diagnoses.
"As Meghan is no longer part of the monarchy, she is free to launch her brand whenever she likes," London-based PR expert Lynn Carratt dished. "However, given Kate's ongoing cancer treatments, it would be wise for Meghan to be sensitive to the timing of her brand launch, considering the public support for Kate worldwide."
This train of thought was also picked up on by Levin who stated: "And I think it's that extraordinary attitude that she knows better than anyone. She thinks of herself as globally; she's made a mess."
The former actress and her prince have not been in Britain together as a couple since Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral in September 2022. Another palace insider stepped forward to reveal that "the long amount of time that has passed since the snob graced us with her presence will guarantee a media frenzy with her oaf" if Meghan joins her husband in May. The Duke of Sussex will be the main attraction at St Paul's Cathedral for a 10th-anniversary celebration of his Invictus Games.
Some analysts claim that Gipson's hiring is "confusing," since the PR expert has essentially "scrubbed" all previous personal information about himself from the internet. This includes his prior LinkedIn profile, which was "filled with career info" beforehand, in addition to his other social media profiles. Gipson now describes himself as a "senior PR & Events specialist with over 15 years experience in consumer comms."
This left the first palace insider to claim that the ex-Suits star was forcing the press expert to "hide his fast food and candy connections," which Meghan reportedly "finds embarrassing."
