Meghan Markle allegedly has set two clear conditions for considering any reconciliation with Prince William and Kate Middleton. The Duchess of Sussex reportedly is unwilling to move forward without certain guarantees. Royal expert Tom Quinn claims that while William and Middleton have made several efforts to mend their relationship with the Sussexes, the divide between the two couples remains.
As reported by The Mirror, Quinn said, "Harry would like a reconciliation, but supports his wife completely, and until she feels that the royal family have been sufficiently nice to her-and grovelingly apologized for the past, it's not going to happen." As reported by Marca, Markle has no plans to join the royal family again, not even for a brief visit to the United Kingdom. Quinn added that the Duchess of Sussex might also be holding Harry back from reaching out to William and Middleton.
The royal pundit said, "There has been a shift here since Kate's illness. Harry and Meghan do feel they need to extend an olive branch, but Meghan's sense of grievance is still preventing anything really meaningful from happening.” He added, "Illness often brings warring family members together, and there have been hopes at Kensington Palace that Kate's illness might do it." Quinn claimed that the Waleses made efforts to repair ties with the Sussexes, even extending an invitation to Markle and Harry to bring their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the UK for a visit, but the Duchess allegedly refused. Quinn said, "There is no way Meghan would bring the children to the UK."
Though the rift remains, Harry has made it clear that he hasn’t given up on peace. As reported by People magazine, he dreams of a future where his children can know their roots. He once said, "I have said before that I have wanted a family, not an institution—so of course, I would love nothing more than for our children to have relationships with members of my family, and they do with some, which brings me great joy."
Once dubbed the 'Fab 4', Harry, William, Middleton, and Markle's relationship collapsed after the Sussexes made shocking claims about the royal family in their tell-all Netflix documentary and sit-down with Oprah Winfrey. Other than the occasional messages of good wishes on Harry's 40th birthday last year or Middleton's battle with cancer, the two couples are not on talking terms. As per reports, there are also plans to strip the Sussexes of their titles when William becomes King or if they make more damaging claims. Harry recently visited London on April 8-9, and neither William nor his father, King Charles, met him.
