Rumors of Meghan Markle allegedly mistreating her staff have been rife for quite some time now. The Duchess of Sussex reportedly often berated them in public. An ex-royal staffer revealed that Markle once ‘screamed’ at a florist over a bouquet they were working on together.
As per the insider, Markle ‘screamed’ at her florist for over 30 minutes. Speaking to The Sunday Times, they said, “They vowed never to work with her again, despite the prestige of having her as a client. If you were working for her, you were often treated like a tradesman who could be treated like s***.” However, The Sun reports that the florist in question has never identified Markle as her client. The allegations came shortly after Markle was branded a ‘demon boss’ who had ‘psycho moments’ by her former employees.
A former courtier who worked for Markle told the Daily Beast that often ‘there definitely were bad, very bad, even psycho moments’ with her. The source added, “I witnessed people being chewed up in person and over the phone and made to feel like s--t…and I’m inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt. She has said herself she was suicidal at times.” Another insider, who worked with her in the run-up to her wedding, told the outlet, “I always thought she was a classic narcissist, and getting her staff to tell a magazine how amazing she is only confirms that in my mind.” There were also whispers that she ‘barks’ out orders and sends angry emails at 5 am.
Markle’s alleged mistreatment of staff first came to light in a scathing report published by The Hollywood Reporter. According to the outlet, her reported noisy tantrums and angry 5 a.m. emails earned her the in-house nickname ‘Duchess Difficult.’ The report, which featured painful experiences of her staff who worked with her, struck a chord with the Sussexes. An insider told The Sun, “The Sussexes were left reeling by The Hollywood Reporter's story.” The allegations surrounding her bullying behavior were also exacerbated by her former press secretary, Jason Knauf. Knauf famously accused Markle of bullying her Palace staff members into quitting. In response, Markle accused the London Times of spreading a smear campaign against her when it published Knauf’s letter.
But he wasn't the only person who accused the Duchess of bad behavior. Royal author Tom Bower, in his biography Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors, recounted an incident involving the Sussexes' visit to Sydney, Australia. He wrote, “Meghan was allegedly abrasive towards her four female staff and even towards the local British diplomats.” He made other bombshell allegations, claiming that she once ‘threw a cup of tea’ into the air after being angry at Prince Harry.
