Marius Borg Hoiby, 27, the stepson of Norway's Crown Prince Haakon, was reportedly placed in solitary confinement following an "explosive" altercation with his girlfriend at her Oslo apartment.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit's son from her first marriage is accused of "psychologically and physically" attacking the victim in addition to "destroying" her home, as revealed in new crime scene photos.

Marius Borg Hoiby 'quite obviously destroyed the apartment,' which will make things hard for his defense team.

The pics show a shattered chandelier on the ground mixed with other debris from the incident, in addition to a chef's knife lodged "curiously" in the wall.

The woman, said to be in her 20s, was reportedly not "physically" injured during the spat, which found Hoiby threatening to "set fire to and burn the girl's clothes and belongings," in a recorded call.

This led a former girlfriend of Hoiby's, Juliane Snekkestad, to take to her Instagram and reveal: "I now no longer choose to remain silent... This has happened before. And this must be stopped now."

She added: "The last few days have been strange and painful. In the last week, I have received a lot of phone calls; messages... regarding my ex's order. First, I would like to send warm thoughts to those affected by the case. Although [my] closest family and friends have known about this, I now no longer choose to remain silent. Because I actually can't keep silent any longer."

A knife was either thrown into or planted in the wall during the altercation.

Snekkestad then pointedly stated: "And to answer the clues: Yes. I have previously been subjected to psychological and physical violence by the person in question. Where the psychological violence was most brutal for me. I'm not sharing this because I want pity... Or to put the focus on me... This has happened before. And this must be stopped now."

Norwegian police stated: "Hoiby has a relationship with the woman who was subjected to the physical abuse. The police do not have information that the woman has suffered serious injuries, but it will be part of the investigation to map out the extent of the victim’s injuries."

Crown Princess Mette-Marit's son from a previous marriage has caused an 'explosive scandal' in the Norwegian monarchy.

The "commoner" Crown Princess wed Haakon in a lavish ceremony in Oslo back in 2001. Norway's long-serving monarch, King Harald V, and his consort, Queen Sonja, were said to initially be against Haakon's choice of bride due to her "checkered past," but the future queen went on to win the heart of the nation.

Hoiby grew up alongside his mom and stepdad along with their two children, Princess Ingrid, second in line to the Norwegian throne, and Prince Sverre Magnus. Until now, the royal stepchild has frequently been praised for occasionally stepping in to assist his mom and future queen with some of her public duties.

Marius Hoiby had only recently entered into a relationship with Rebecca Helberg Arntsen.
