Queen Camilla and Meghan Markle share little in common aside from their status as divorcees. Reportedly, the Queen Consort didn’t take kindly to the Duchess due to Markle’s reluctance to accept advice. In his book, royal author Tom Bower reveals that Camilla had a brutal one-word nickname for Markle— ‘minx.’ Bower claims Camilla used the term to describe Markle as a 'self-seeking troublemaker'.

In his book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors, Bower claimed that Camilla always had her wall up against Markle, even before she married Prince Harry. Allegedly, the Queen Consort decided not to voice her not-so-nice opinions about Markle to her stepson. Speaking to The Sun, Bower said, “From the outset, Camilla was suspicious about the adventuress from Los Angeles. She found it hard to believe that Meghan would sacrifice her career and independence to serve silently as a team player devoted to the monarchy.” He added that she strongly believed Markle was a trouble-maker whose antics would 'always end in tears'.

Despite Bower’s claims, Newsweek reports that a day after Harry and Markle's engagement was made public, Camilla was 'absolutely thrilled' that the pair were marrying. As per the outlet, she allegedly said, “As you can see, they're so happy, and sometimes, you know, in a climate where we're surrounded by a lot of bad news, it's a real joy to have a bit of good news for once. And, as I've said before, we're delighted.” Harry’s memoir, Spare, also mentions how his wife relied on Camilla for advice when she was struggling with negative tabloid reporting. He penned, “Meg, meanwhile, reached out to Camilla, who tried to counsel her by saying this was just what the press always did to newcomers, that it would all pass in due time, that Camilla had been the bad guy once."

Camilla wasn’t the only one who apparently had brutal nicknames for Markle. Royal author Tom Quinn’s book, Yes Ma'am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants, cites that her Palace staff allegedly gave Markle a slew of horrid nicknames. She was called the ‘Duchess of Difficult’ for a while, Quinn wrote for The London Times. He adds that a Palace staff member reportedly told him, “She could be difficult because she was finding life difficult — trying to feel her way and work out the intricacies of a positively medieval, labyrinthine system.”

As reported by Page Six, Markle was also given the moniker ‘Mystic Meg’ because she was viewed as a very woke individual. A Palace aide told the outlet, “It’s true that her nickname for a while was the Duchess of Difficult, but she had other, friendlier nicknames, including Mystic Meg, which came about because she was so new agey, so woke, about so many things.”
