Archie and Lilibet to End Royal 'Rift': Veiled Sussex Kids Could Ask Harry and Meghan 'Why Haven't I Met My Cousins?' in the Future
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet Diana live their lives largely behind closed doors, but the royal Sussex grandchildren, who are being raised in California, could potentially help end the Wales/Sussex rift.
"As the children get older, they get more curious about their family — why haven't I met my cousins? Why haven't I met my uncle and his wife?" royal expert Helena Chard dished.
"And hopefully it will be the children that mend the relationship because obviously, they all want to see each other," she added. "It will be really, really sad for that not to happen. In fact, it will sort of be like a damaged generation, if something doesn't work out. But hopefully, King Charles will also give a little push."
Chard continued: "I don't think he [Prince Harry] will meet Princess Charlotte, but he will meet King Charles. It's a fairly flying visit. Prince Harry is obviously coming over for the Invictus Games service of Thanksgiving. That's one of the things we can applaud him for, the sporting event. And he'll be doing a reading as well. Wouldn't it be lovely if Princess Charlotte could have a lovely hug from her uncle Harry? But it's not going to happen. There's no way that Prince William will allow that."
The expert further added: "I do think Prince Harry has to mend a few bridges, he's got to do something to show a little bit of willingness. There's been a lot of hurt there. And understandably, King Charles wants to see his darling boy. It's easier to repair that relationship, but I do feel that Prince Harry has to give a little bit more."
This follows earlier reports that suggested Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales wanted to see their niece and nephew, but Meghan Markle has refused.
"There is no way Meghan would bring the children to the U.K.," royal author Tom Quinn told an outlet. "William and Kate have suggested that Meghan and Harry bring the children and that the two couples and their families try to make up, but the suggestion is not leading anywhere so far."
It is believed that both the Prince and Princess of Wales have not seen nor spoken to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet since June 2022, at the late Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Numerous royal analysts have also suggested that the three Wales children only know their cousins through the media, and that "it will unfortunately likely stay that way until they are all much older," according to a former palace insider.
Daily Mirror reported on the expert opinions.
